Spring is in full swing and it is my favourite season bar none. With Easter just around the corner, it is also a time of hope, renewal and regeneration. Here are some inspiring spring-themed initiatives with a purpose.
Spring in the DesertDue to severe drought, most inhabitants of the hinterland region of Sertão, Brazil have never witnessed the beauty of spring. Now a joint initiative by a French champagne brand Perrier-Jouët, a Brazilian luxury fashion designer Martha Medeiros and a local NGO Olhar do Sertão has brought springtime to Sertão. Through a social media campaign #PrimaveranoSertao, the initiative raised awareness and funds, which were used to build three new wells in the region. Watch this beautiful video about the project.
A is for Apple
Watching the blossoming apple trees in my garden, I am thinking of another great initiative that could benefit from support. A is for Apple is a project that looks at the changing landscape of apple farming post-Brexit in England. Apples have often been referred to as the most English fruit. Shakespeare would often refer to apples in his sonnets, and many books have been published on the different sorts of apples in England, their history and cultural significance. A is for Apple aims to open a conversation among farmers, migrant workers and consumers on the future of British apples through a mix of art, ecology, and citizen action.

Now is also a perfect time to spring clean your wardrobe. And what better way to do it than by benefiting a good cause! In a first for the Lake Geneva region, a charity luxury second-hand sale was organised earlier this month by Ladies’ Circle Nyon La Côte. Set in the luxurious Beau Rivage Hotel in Geneva, Fashion Together for Charity featured clothes, shoes and accessories from some of the most coveted brands. All proceeds from the sale went to a local association Objectif Vaincre l’Autisme that supports autistic children and their parents.
