Honest. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. One of the best movies to come out of this year, for sure. I don’t know where to start. The story is so dark and it’s told in a careful way which makes it feel realistic and horrific. It’s actually quite a sad film. You won’t cry but you will feel so much sympathy. The name of the film is so simple yet it has so much meaning to it. I love the name, I thought it really fit with the feel of the film.
The cast are all fantastic and to say that it’s the director’s debut film, he did an astounding job. He really captured the intensity that goes along with growing up. Owen Campbell plays the main character and I absolutely love the actor. I first saw him in As You Are which is one of the best films I have ever seen. He’s a really talented actor.
This really is a must-see film. It’s truthful and entertaining. The cinematography is astounding as well. There are some shots that are completely inspiring. Kevin Phillips really is someone to look out for. It has a very Stranger Things feel to it. If you like that show then I’d recommend this.
