The Bulls, 13-4 (3-1), won 89 to 73 over Temple on the road in a solid game for USF. Kitija Laksa got it going and the Bulls got back in the win column.
In the first half, the Bulls got off to a fast start and took a 49 to 31 lead into the half. USF shot 55% for the half (33% for Temple) and were 8 for 14 from 3-point range. USF also won the rebounding battle at 21 to 16. Kitija Laksa snapped out of her bad outing against Uconn and went off for 19 points to lead the Bulls.
In the second half, the Bulls kept the pedal down and did not allow a tough Temple team to get back in the game. USF shot 50% for the game overall (41% for Temple) and were just 9 for 21 from 3-point range. What helped USF were the little things, winning the rebounding battle at 42 to 30 and having 20 bench points to just 11 for the Owls. It all counted in this game.
Laksa led the night for the Bulls with 29 points and 6 rebounds. Maria Jespersen had 20 points and 5 rebounds while Laura Ferreira had 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Laia Flores only had 3 points, but added 2 rebounds, and 7 assists with no turnovers. Alba Prieto had 10 points and 4 rebounds off of the bench for the Bulls.
USF will return home to host Central Florida on Sunday (game begins at noon). Time to get the winning streak going for the Bulls, this was just the first step.
