Warning: Spoilers for the end of Exposure, the fourth book in the Virals Series, are below. If you don’t want to know the ending of book four, do not read.
My copy of TerminalThis is the end. This could be the end for the Virals.
Terminal is the last book in the Virals series. It is written by Kathy Reichs and her son Brendan Reichs, and it was published in 2015.
At the end of Exposure, it is revealed to the audience that Chance Claybourne had not only continued the parvovirus research, he too had become infected with the virus, giving him similar powers to the Virals.
What’s worse, not only had Chance become infected, but three other people had as well, and these mystery Virals are out for blood.
They start a turf war with the pack, claiming that there is only room for one pack of Virals in Charleston, South Carolina.
This starts to attract the attention of some unwanted eyes from the government, who start to inquire into the Virals past by interviewing those who had seen the Virals access their powers.
Tory, Hi, Ben, Shelton, and Chance are now in a race against time. They have to find out who the mystery Virals and the shadowy government agents are before they get to them.
And if the pack fails… The consequences could cost them their lives.
Terminal is a good ending in the Virals series for a lot of reasons. One of the first reasons is because Kathy and Brendan Reichs take the time to bring back characters from the other novels. They do this in the form of the interviews the shadowy government agents give to witnesses who had seen the Virals in action. And to have those throwbacks to the previous novels is quite touching.
Another reason Terminal is a good ending for the Virals series is because Tory and Ben finally reconcile the differences that drove them apart during Exposure, bringing the pack back together again to fight the mystery Virals and the government agents hunting them.
One other thing that made Terminal such a good ending was the epilogue that I am still trying to figure out to this day… But I’m not going to tell you what happened… For that you’ll have to find your own copy of Terminal.
Kathy and Brendan Reichs end up writing a very good send off to the Virals series. This book will leave the readers satisfied with where Tory, Hi, Ben, and Shelton end up… all the while leaving just enough room for the reader to wonder what happens next for our favorite band of teenagers….
