SPOILERS!!!
It is really interesting how Nick is starting to fall for Anna. His initial intention was easy sex, and that is why he was on the dating website. Yet, once he met Anna, he realised that she was there for something more. He could have walked away, but for some reason he persevered. The sex eventually comes on their ninth date, but there is more to their relatinship that he first counted on. Their dates are varied as they enjoy different activities and places they go to. Nick and Anna couldn’t be more different, even their jobs are really dissimilar. Anna works in a drop-in homeless centre whereas Nick deals with investments in his bank. I think that both of them are falling in love even though Nick is reluctant to admit that he wants more than a physical relationship. He even doesn’t hesitate to call her when his mum falls and breaks her hip, and Anna instantly offers to go with him to see his mother. So now Anna knows his family, at least his parents, so that must mean something for Nick.
Apart from Nick and Anna, Zoe, Anna’s twin sister, also has a voice in the novel, and we know that she doesn’t like Nick. Zoe lives in America, so he hasn’t met Nick, but she knows that he is not trustworthy. Zoe is very protective of her sister because Anna is naive and vulnerable. So Zoe starts a little investigation on Nick, and she knows he is a liar. In his profile he mentions that he doesn’t have any experience in online dating, but she discovers that he is on several sites. We know that Zoe is right. Nick is a liar, but he seems to be serious about Anna. Has he really changed? Maybe Anna’s love will reform him.
