The last two nights I spent my time on WordPress. I read a lot of different posts because I want to find some cool blogger that I can follow through the year. During this, I found an interesting entry by Bookslove26. She’s talking about a challenge by AvaReed and it’s called #ranandenSuBmitAva. SuB means “Stapel ungelesener Bücher” (in English pile of unread books). Ava will give us different topics and we have to choose between three and eight books that we didn’t read yet.
I like this idea a lot. I have about 140 books and there are many which I didn’t read. I can’t control myself in bookstores and on jumble sales. I didn’t read 26 books of my 140 and I wanna change that. Last year I read a lot, but I stopped reading. In the holidays and some weeks before I started again and I love to read! So, this challenge is great. I will read a lot and I will read all of my books. After I read them all, I can finally buy new books.
So, in January you should read books from the genres Fantasy, Dystopia, Erotic, Young Adult, New Adult, Krimi or Thriller. I started ‘Harry Potter and the half blood prince’. I wanna read this series for three years and I started over a year ago. I lost my goal often. But now I just have about 1200 pages of Harry Potter left. So, for this month I will read ‘Harry Potter and the half blood prince’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. But there is still missing one book. I decided for ‘Looking for Alaska’ by John Green. The Harry Potter books I read in German, but the book by John Green I will read in English.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
I think that everyone knows the stories about Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, but I will shortly tell what the blurb says. So, Voldemort is back. In the magic world rules war. People die again. Hogwarts, the school for young wizards, gets the highest protection. Dumbledore, the principal of Hogwarts, teaches Harry in private lessons, therewith Harry can fight against the dark lord.
I’m really excited to read this book. I loved the movies and I loved the previous books. I would say that I like the books more than the movies because you know what Harry is thinking. In the movies, you don’t take care what he’s thinking or you can only guess.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
Harry, Ron and Hermine are searching the Horcruxes. If they destroy all of them, Harry can murder Lord Voldemort and the war will be over. But on their journey, they get to know about the deathly hallows. Harry and his friends are interested, but what should they do now? Are they continue searching the Horcruxes or are they searching for more information about the deathly hallows? Whatever they do, at the end will be the big fight between Harry and Lord Voldemort.
For the films, they split this book. I think it will be very interesting if this book is as good as the movies. The book is 300 pages shorter than ‘Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ has a lot of new information and a big war. But I think that J.K. Rowling did her job as well as she did before.
Looking for Alaska by John Green
Miles Halter changes school. He’s going to Culver Creek, a boarding school. He isn’t one of the cool kids. At the new school, he meets his roommate Colonel and Alaska Young. Alaska Young is an intelligent and beautiful girl. Miles fells in love immediately. But what he didn’t know, Alaska has a lot of issues. One day, she disappears.
I read this book in my German class. I loved it. I like that every chapter starts with … days before then is the incident and after this, the chapters start with … days after. Also, I enjoyed the story. John Green never tells a normal love story. It’s always really realistic. And I think that this is very important for his readers because they are really young.
I’m really excited how this will work and if I will finish all of my books. I think after I finished one, I will write a short entry about the book and if I liked it. At the end of the month, I will write about how this worked for me and if it was easy to read three books during school.
Maybe you are interested now and you want to be part of the challenge. Here you can read the original post! If you will do the challenge, too, tell me in the comments! I would like to know which books you will read.
Have a great day!
Loni ❤
