The Secret – Law of Attraction

After the New Years, with much eating and digestion – I catch up with a good friend and entrepreneur recently working in the hot whisky sauce industry at Melbourne’s well known Brunetti‘s for a cup of coffee and chocolate cake.  The scenery full of families, couples, tourists, with the buzz of caffeine betrays the kind of seriousness to which we were discussing the State of Affairs with the world and more importantly our minds.

A good friend of mine gave me The Secret by Rhonda Byrne to read a few years ago. I read it and thought what a wonderfully simple book, but then did not think much about it. However, over the last few years, after starting meditation and yoga with much dedication and patience, things started to add up. Come full circle it brought me back to The Secret and The Law of Attraction.

Change happens on many different levels, and perhaps the hardest to measure is what goes on between our ears and how powerful that machine is. My life was transformed when I started taking a step back, clearing unnecessary thoughts, and allowing what truth arises to come to me.

It surprised me how the thought of meditation scares people. I am talking about competent, intelligence, high- powered executives and partners, who are the leaders of their field – yet – the very thought of sitting still with themselves scares them.

Why?

Why could such a simple activity bring fear to people’s mind?

Some call it Monkey Mind; some simply think it brings back all terrible past memories, mistakes in their lives and sorrows of yesterday. But what if I told you that your mind could be as still as the scene where Neil in the Matrix finds himself in a clear what room (The Construct), purity and stillness like never before? That mastery of our art, what ever it maybe starts and ends up in our frontal cortex?

As I watch the sushi train’s go by, and enjoying the miso soup, my friend tells me of their journey and how things are finally magically falling into place. I look back with the same thought, how could it be that when I struggled in the past, I literally felt like I was in the rat race, turning and turning – in circles. Whilst now, by doing less I am achieving more?

Now, we define our ‘success’ and ‘failure’ in different ways – it depends on how we are brought up, educated, our culture, environment and peers may influence us and more importantly what we have been telling ourselves. Self-criticisms and self-condemnation is such a typical trait and if we accepted ‘failure’ as simply a need to master an art, like painting, or riding a bicycle then surely see can see the role that such failure takes.

I am talking about start-ups, businesses and ideas.  What did I learn from watching The Secret? And trying to digest The Law of Attraction for the past few years? It’s really, truly how powerful the mind is. So powerful, that I am putting myself to the test.

Some people who know me start of 2017 knew I had no idea what I was doing with my life. Where I was going or what path I was going to go on? Come March 2017, I was travelling and attended the Space Forum in Luxembourg because I was curious. It was different and I was interested, brings back memories of childhood dreams.

Little did I know it was going to change my life.

There were many amazing people there, one particular individual impressed upon me like no other. He sat next to me, and without knowing who he was I almost poured coffee over him. ‘Oh, I’m about to leave’, he said. Thinking he was leaving the conference hall, he actually stood on stage to talk about the company’s plans for space tourism and space flight for humanity. I listened, and I listened with great concentration. The thought came, ‘I want to be part of this.’ But I had no idea how.

Come April, I was accepted to attend the Global Solutions Program, at Singularity University at Silicon Valley and June, I was to meet my future team. Within two months, I met my Co-Founding team. We entered the Space Masters competition in September and won first prize in November. Now we are in the process of setting up in Luxembourg early this quarter.

How can all this happen in such a short space of time?

Luck?

Hardwork?

Decisions?

Destiny?

How many times, have we gone back in our lives to review a situation and said, ‘I wish’, ‘I would have’ done x, y and z differently. I certainly have done that. Though, how about the outcome? Would it be the same? Different?

I have come to a simple conclusion – we will never know. We will never know for certainty, anything that we have done is enough, not enough, better, worst, wonderful, bad, a success or failure except there is a 50/50 chance. For every decision we make, we have a 50/50 chance of it swinging either way. Which way it goes depends on a lot of things, but I think the mind is the greatest determinator of the outcome.

Now some of you might disagree, as my friend would say, it’s all in the execution. I understand where he is coming at. Perhaps it is because I have been in enough organisations to see, that when there is a lack of leadership or vision at the top, nothing happens. Not because it’s not a great team, not because there is not enough talent, but because there is a sense of being lost.

Lost in the dark of the noise, competition, sense of lack, low self-esteem and pure misery. The vibration that is generated is so low, that no wonder there is no motivation or positive energy generated to move things. Tony Robbins speaks consistently of moving our bodies, generating energy that we may not have, finding the passion within and expressing it outwardly. He doesn’t invite people to work on fire for no good reason.

The fear is in the mind, and we can over come it at the same time. Byron Katie talks of The Work, and it is not for the faint hearted. Like meditation, it takes practice to ask yourself those though questions about our thoughts:

Is it true?

Is it really true?

How does it make you feel when you think the thought?

How would you feel without the thought?

Turn it around?

In most of her shows, people find truths when they turn their statements around. Be it criticisms of colleagues, family members, advisors, customer service, you name it, people see the truth in them when they realise all along they have been projecting their vulnerabilities and insecurities onto other people.

2018 Year of the Dog is going to see humanity rise to the sense of justice and fairness in systems. I want to express my gratitude to my family and friends whom have been with me through the journey of transformation in the last few years. This year is going to be particularly special because I know deep down that it’s going go upwards and I do not know how it’s going look like. All I know is that we may cross paths, build a better future and impact positively our environment, our society and most importantly ourselves.

I dedicate my blog to my wonderful followers, who have inspired me and shown me the right path when at times I have struggled to stay on track. That their love and compassion has been a real driver to my purpose to serve others in empowering and impacting positively on them.

May 2018 realise the dreams that you have and bring you closer to your beautiful authentic self.

Namaste.

Helen
