SPOILERS!!!
Grace does not get any more information about the death of Dr Merrick when she visits the hospital. She raises the question of any impropriety between Merrick and the teenage patients, but both Dr Ash Rajani, Merrick’s supervisor, and Professor Ned Chesham deny having any knowledge of anything untoward happening between Dr Merrick and any young patients.
When Grace and Blake leave, we see Meghan and Clive once again. Meghan is excited because Dr Chesham has told her that she can go to Buckhingham Palace for the ceremony of his knighthood. Clive goes to see the man to get things clarified, and Chesham is not alone. He is busy with Helen, the nurse that Merrick phoned the night he was murdered. We learn that Helen is Clive’s sister-in-law and Meghan’s aunt, and as Clive watches Chesham and Helen, he thinks that there is some sexual tension between them. He thinks that his wife’s taunts about her sister’s crush on her boss might be true.
Colin Pitman, the superintendent and Grace’s boss, calls her to tell her that someone in Scotland Yard needs to talk to her. So Grace goes to the Scotland Yard headquarters the next day to meet Sharon Marx. She tells Grace that her name has come to her notice after she got involved in Merrick’s murder. Then she explains that this case is connected to an older operation, and Grace is told that from now on she will head an investigation, called Operation Mayfly, in which she has to investigate Professor Chesham in connection to sexual abuse of minors. I wonder if there is a link here with Merrick’s murder. Could it be possible that the intended victim was Chesham and somehow there was a confusion and Merrick ended up dead? Or maybe it is something totally different. And for some reason Meghan and her family (her father and aunt) are brought to the foreground, and I imagine that either Helen might have been involved in her boss’s activities or Clive knows more than we have seen so far.
