The Steelers Coaches Suck
Today, the Steelers took on Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team nobody, not even the Steelers thought could beat them. Guess what, the Steelers lost, 45-42. Yeah that’s right they scored 42 points at home in a playoff game and somehow still lost.
I am not sure where to begin with the blame on this one, but I can tell you none of it is on anyone who plays offense that’s for sure. The Steelers defense was absolutley awful in the biggest game of the season, giving up 38 points, and 8/14 third down attemps by the Jags. That is a complete joke. How, at home, are you that bad against a QB in Bortles that cannot throw the ball? HOW? Well I will tell you how, Mike Tomlin, that is how.
Mike Tomlin is viewed around the league as a great motivator and a really good football coach, and as someone who has seen just about every single game in the Mike Tomlin area, that is a laughable joke. Mike Tomlin could not motivate a cat to outrun a dog, much less a football team to come out and win a playoff game at home, favored by 7.5 points. Motivators and good coaches do not lose that game. Ever. He has done it multiple times, but we won’t go down that rabbit hole today.
Secondly to blame is the worst offensive coordinator in the league, Todd Haley. Todd Haley is the most arrogant, SOB in coaching, and showed his best stuff today. On 4th and 1, with Bell running down the Jags throats, he decides to pitch the ball wide for a loss of 5. Brilliant play call asshole. Second, on another 4th and 1 with Bell still running down the Jags throats, he decides to throw the ball, which results in a missed PI call, and a turnover on downs. That is the brilliance of Todd Haley in a nutshell. He does not adjust in game to anything, because he is so arrogant that he believes his play calling can beat anyone. It can’t. I know a team that scored 42 points can’t possibly have a bad OC , but that would be all on the efforts of Ben, Brown, and Bell doing Ben, Brown, and Bell things, not that asshat on the sidelines.
There is one silver lining potentially with a loss today, and that is that Todd Haley could be fired, or “not re-signed” technically, but still, that would be worth the loss. We have the most talented offense in the NFL, and yet, still underachieve greatly every chance we get. We made it to the AFC title game last year hot off of a game where we did not score an offensive touchdown. Yeah you are a genius Todd.
Having Ben come back next year, with a new OC is the only thing Steeler fans can honestly look forward to for next year. If they bring Haley back, the fanbase may revolt, and Ben could then retire, because he hates him. You also have the Bell contract lingering for another off season (pay him), which makes you wonder if potentially that was the best shot the Steelers had at winning another Super Bowl before Ben retires.
