The Stranger 6 (Pages 222 – 242)

SPOILERS!!!

Patrik can’t find the connection between Marit and Rasmus, the man who was forced to drink to death. Hanna and Gösta also talk to Kerstin, and Ola, Marit’s ex-husband. Even though both of them deny to know anything about Rasmus, Gösta feels that there is something strange in Ola’s attitude, but he can’t put his finger on it. Later, when Patrik and Martin examine Rasmus’s backpack, they eventually find something that tells them what the connection is. We, readers, don’t know what the object is, and I wonder who the killer of these two people are. Patrik believes that there may be more similar cases, so she asks Annika, the receptionist, to phone other police stations, to enquire about unsolved cases with similar characteristics.

Sofie, Marit’s daughter, also makes a discovery. Wanting to feel closer to her mother, she gets Marit’s box of memories where the woman kept photographs and mementos. Yet, she discovers an article that her mother kept at the bottom of the box, and when she finishes reading it, she is pale and shocked. I wonder if the article was about her dad, or what? I still have no theories about Marit’s murder. Could Ola be responsible for her death? The very few clues that we have point at him, but apart from him, I have no idea who wanted to kill both Marit and Rasmus.
