Sixteen year old Mara Dyer wakes up in the hospital to be told her friends have died in a tragic accident. With no memory of what happened she’s lucky to be alive.
Beginning to suffer from PTSD, Mara and her family move from their home in Rhode Island to Florida, hoping a fresh start might help. But a new start means a new school, and with her old friends’ dead, Mara feels completely alone. With a horrible start to school, Mara braces herself for worse days when the school population assumes she’s dating resident bad boy Noah Shaw.
From dirty looks at school, to hallucinations of dead friends, Mara has a lot going on, especially when she begins to remember what really happened and how, all the while learning there’s more to Noah Shaw than he has people believe.
This was my second time reading this as a refresh of the trilogy before starting The Becoming of Noah Shaw, and I loved it just as much as the first time, if not more. The characters are well thought out, the story more than enough to hold your attention, you’ll be turning pages quickly and at the end before you know it. I wish there was more of Jamie, but I know there’s more from him in the next books, thankfully.
Read it, but beware, Noah is as frustrating as he is hot.
