What a truly beautiful little book. I mean that quite literally. It is gorgeous – moody blue and sparkly, like the night sky – and a short but really punchy read. Thank you to the Children’s Bookshop for selecting it for us, it really is wonderful. It’s about four friends who gather together to open a time capsule they made 5 years earlier, when they were 13. One friend has died, so even though the remaining 4 have lost touch, they all come together in her honour. It’s a fast paced book with loads of emotion, but lots of physical drama as well. The characters are drawn with great depth, even though the book doesn’t have that many pages. I read it all in about 2 hours, maybe less. When I got to the end I held it to my chest then sort of flipped the cover around to see what else I could drink from it. It was then that I found the last page, which says this (and makes total sense):
