The cast and crew of AMT’s spring production of Damn Yankees has geared up for another amazing weekend of productions at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts! The cast of the show has channeled the energy from opening weekend for two more nights of singing, dancing and all sorts of shenanigans. Production nights are Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th at 7PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Flickinger Center.
Based on the novel, The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant by Douglass Wallop, Damn Yankees the Broadway mega-hit and winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, hits it out of the park! The winning score by Adler and Ross and a devilish book by George Abbot have made this sporty musical comedy a true American classic.
Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd (Loren Jackson), trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate (Randall Cutts), for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As transformed young phenom Joe Hardy (Zack Miller), he wows the world transforming the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, Joe begins to realize the real worth of the life he’s left behind. Colorful characters, smashing dance numbers and songs, including “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets),” “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Those Were the Good Old Days,” are show highlights. Boasting more than 1,000 performances on Broadway, a successful film version and a popular Broadway revival, Damn Yankees has won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, Damn Yankees promises to please!
Come this weekend to see some amazing local talent perform this fantastic show! Remember, every ticket sold helps fund scholarships for area students to pursue the fine arts! What a great reason to take in a night of musical entertainment!
