Having grown up with an angry and bitter mother (“the Sarge”), Maureen has been wanting to escape to something bigger and better her whole life. But instead of becoming bigger and better, she makes a series of really bad decisions (that will literally have you gasping) and changes her life forever.
Catherine is reading This Is Just My Face by Gabourey Sidibe
Gabourey Sidibe is the best friend you didn’t know you had. She is so honest, so relatable, and SO funny that when you finish this book you’ll feel like you just had the BEST coffee date ever with a childhood friend. This is, hands down, one of my favourite books of the year — and it feels like one that every woman should pick up.

Sharon is reading Universal Harvester by John Darnielle
This book’s setting may be small town Iowa, but there’s more than a dash of the Southern Gothic at play here. Jeremy’s predictable job at the local Video Hut is interrupted when customers begin complaining of disturbing, black-and-white scenes appearing in the middle of their rented movies. After a handful of viewings Jeremy begins to think he recognizes the homemade clips’ location as a barn outside of town. Quaint veers off into creepy and compelling as Jeremy and his friends look for answers, answers you’ll be desperate to keep turning the pages for.

Kelly Oxford is back in this hilarious, honest, and reflective memoir. If you’re hungry for a refreshing non-fiction read, this book is for you!
Destiny is reading The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O’Neill
Love, loss, and circus dreams. The Lonely Hearts Hotel reminded me of one of my favourite books The Night Circus, so I just had to pick it up. Within a few pages I was hooked on the tragic story of the two children Rose and Pierrot. This novel is a dark and magical love story that is totally worth the read!
Karen is reading Everybody Lies by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz
Everybody lies… except in internet searches.
This month I’m reading a nonfiction title! Everybody Lies is a fascinating book about how social scientists like author Seth Stephens-Davidowitz use “Big Data” — such as internet searches — to answer big questions, like “What percentage of white voters didn’t vote for Barack Obama because he’s black?”, “Does where you go to school affect how successful you are in life?”, “Do violent films affect the crime rate?”. Throughout the book, you’ll realize how your internet searches are way more illuminating than you may have previously imagined and, if you’re like me, you’ll never think about your searches in the same way again.
Kelsey is reading Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane
I was immediately drawn into Since We Fell , and what a wild ride it was! With so many intriguing story lines weaved together, this story creates a perfectly suspenseful atmosphere. I promise you will not be able to put this one down!
