review 1: This book just had so much heart. There's something about Cath Crowley's writing that is gloriously simple but so deep at the same time. In the end, this is a fairly simple plot, but she makes it anything but with her characters. She has a spectacular talent for creating characters and relationships and drawing you right in so that you feel like you belong. There were some stylistic things that I didn't love (toward the end of the book, there started to appear some overlaps in POV that bugged me), but these characters and their stories trumped it all. I loved Charlie and Rose and I want to clone Dave for my little sisters.
review 2: I like this book mainly because of how honest the characters are. It doesn't have that typical mushiness to it. It's all the cool
... morehard truth. Crowley really understands teenagers in my opinion. The book was tragic but somewhat realistic. It's not cookie cutter style so you can't match it with your life but it is easy to think the way the characters think. I would recommend this book to teens who have a hard time understanding others and how they feel. This book is all about understanding. less
