Without You Here

As snowflakes fall across the land,

bathing in purity all that stands,

ruins covered in a blanket of cold,

erasing memories torturing my soul,

their tombstones nearly out of view,

yet I find myself seeing you,

in the drifts that enter my mind,

visiting me from time to time,

happier days when love was strong,

we didn’t care about right or wrong,

but it came to bite us in the end,

taking you before she could begin,

that’s how life chose to treat me,

spending the rest of my days weeping,

watching tears freeze in the cold air,

my frigid eternity without you here…
