Zen Essays

PH: Emilio Labrador

Simple present is complex,

while continuous,

progressively dissolves,

like sugar,

and memory.

But roots,

hide,

and show,

hang on,

and sprout,

as perfect does to surface,

invisibly expressed,

by tears,

of joy,

of sadness,

like tides,

not real,

but sentient,

while faces fall to wrinkle

and laughter becomes wisp,

of hair,

and whispers,

disappear

into the lightweight air.
