review 1: 'Wolf Hadda' is supposed to be a lovable rogue at the start of the book but one of the reasons I struggled to get into it initially was that I did not like him, so although it was fairly obvious that he had been set up it took me quite a while to develop an interest in the how and the why of it. The plot also requires the reader to have a view that everything terrible can happen all at once to the same person - betraying best friends, corrupt police, lax judicial system, financial meltdown and a dodgy background in spying - and that all it takes for conviction is the horrors of the tabloid press to have their say. The plot has a lot of impossibilities (a wayward eighteen year old trained as a secret service assassin??), a twist too much (Wolf and Imogen's real relationship... more) and the 'slightly in the future' setting of the ending raised some smiles (the question of future heirs to the throne if both twins were boys - we've solved that one) but generally this is a good yarn where the real baddies get what's coming to them.
review 2: Another excellent find recommended by the local library staff. Now I want to read more of this author and his pseudonym. This was a fascinating story and an ending that you have no way prepared yourself. I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys books with good storytelling and unseen plots. The characters are full of body and you continue to turn the pages to find out the next story movement. less

This was an exhausting tale of betrayal. and mystery. Makes me think my life is pretty darn good.
