review 1: Had to paused so many times while reading this not because it was boring (of course it wasn't 'cause the prequel was totally awesome) but because I just couldn't find time to finish it quick. The story gets better on the second book. I actually think I liked this more than the first which is unusual. Rhiannon didn't focus only on Amaliya and Cian's love story but also on the growing romance between Samantha and Jeff plus Samantha had acquired a power after drinking Amaliya's blood and that made me crazy. Phasmagnus and necromancer are something interesting and the new characters comes with additional awesomeness =)I'm excited already on what else are coming on the last book the fact that they've mentioned the sword of Satan which turned into 13 rings where The Summoner wa... mores after to.. Woot! Can't wait to finish this trilogy.
review 2: Meh I rounded up to 3 but this one is a 2.5 at best,no where near as good as the first one was. This book has the feel of every other book out there in this genre, the story feels rushed & the awesome raw grit of the Pretty When She Dies is long gone. Definitely written/edited for the "mass market" appeal of the "Twilight" crowd. Everything starts out promising but by the halfway point I started to get annoyed by the cliche feel of the story. My main issue is that the MAIN CHARACTER has little more than a cameo appearance, most of the book is spent with all the peripheral characters introduced in the first book: BORRRRRRRING! Also the introduction of Cassandra & her "relationship" to Cian is by far the LAMEST CLICHE in this genre, ugh! less
