review 1: I really liked this one. The story was quite good and characters were generally behaving logically for being in a zombie apocalypse. Also, I liked that in general people were acting nice to each other because I don't like zombie stories that turn into a few distant zombies while live humans keep killing each other. It was pretty creepy at parts and if you can make it through the "tiny fingers" section and enjoy it, this is probably a good book for you. I did find Jenni's character to be a bit off and irritating at times, but she is obviously mentally unstable and the zombie apocalypse has just happened, so I don't expect her to be mentally sound at all times. It also didn't really feel very resolved at the end, and while it's a trilogy and wasn't even intended as a no... morevel from the start, it would have been nice to have a start-to-finish story that felt more coherent. I also felt like some of the writing was better than other parts (and the characters talked about their feelings a bit much), but generally it was pretty awesome.
review 2: It boggles my mind how awful the writing is and yet, this "author" seems to be successful with published pieces of work! I just don't get it. I've seen better stuff from free online fan-fiction than this drivel.I really tried giving this book a go, but could only ingest a few sentences before my head started to swim from the massive quantity of insipid words of what the characters were doing on every fecking page: "Jenni said softly", "Travis frowned a little", Travis sighed", "Travis rubbed his chin thoughtfully" "Travis exhaled slowly"... I'm not a writer but I know solid work when I read it and this "AIN'T" it!! This is definitely NOT worth the time or paper it's printed on. The sad thing too is that I just saw on here the author had submitted her own review of 5/5 stars for this. I don't know whether to feel sorry for her or high five her for her tenacity and obvious delusion of how talented she thinks she is. Because of the latter however, she IS published (several books as far as I can see) and possesses a small but strong following of diehard fans. Who wouldn't admire that and frankly, be a bit jealous? She's succeeding in an industry where most fail...and her being less than gifted in this area has not slowed her one bit... or should I say "bite" (since that's her love - zombies and vampires). I say then, bravo to her to which I give a 5 out of 5. However, the book still deserves a 1, but even with that I'm being fairly generous. less
