review 1: Well this was not what I expected. The appearance of this book speaks of confidence and ego, so I thought nothing of reading this on the tube and train...turns out it's super saucy!Other than the spicy chapters, the character of Piet was enjoyable, and his relationships in the house were engaging. I kind of lost interest after that though, I think it would have been a good ending after he had left, I felt the author was very attached to Piet therefore didn't want to leave him at that, but I think he was more of a tool to the family, and that was all this book needed to be.
review 2: History of a Pleasure Seeker chronicles the experiences of Piet, a sexually adventurous social climber living in turn-of-the-century Amsterdam. Piet obtains employment as a tutor for
... more a wealthy family's son, although he teaches (and is taught by) everyone else a thing or two.I didn't know how to rate this book. While the writing is good, I felt as though a bunch of things happen to Piet and his employers. However, none of those events fundamentally affect Piet- he doesn't seem to grow or change in any way as a result. Maybe that's supposed to be the point, but I kind of wanted to see a little personal development. less

Sexy Downton Abbey, just like a review says on the back of the book. Great easy (steamy) read.
