review 1: well this book so far is great, aside from all the enemies and their mother's death Carter and Sadie must ace all kinds of adventures and challenges to get to their destiny and stop the Hand of evil the Ancient pharaoh gods who are slowly awakening. I personally think that Carter and Sadie are going threw hell, despite the fact that their only living parent has disappeared through a hole on the ground. Their only connection to their family and their weird secrets is a mysterious man that is spying on Sadie night and day through her bedroom window. Besides the point no matter what Sadie and Carter tell any one they'll just think that they are crazy.
review 2: Carter and Sadie Kane are brother and sister but Carter resembles his African-American father while Sadi
... moree looks like her white mother. After their mother’s death, Sadie has been raised by her English grandfather and only sees her father and brother once a year. This year’s visit leads to the death of their father and their going on the run with Uncle Amos. Characters from Egyptian mythology such as Horus, Anubis, Set, Osiris, Isis, and Bast people the book. There is even a baboon, Khufu, who plays basketball, wears an LA Lakers jersey, and drives an 18-wheeler. I didn’t care for the switches between the narration of Carter and Sadie or their asides to each other as they were telling the story. Riordan is doing for Egyptian mythology what he did for Greek myths in the Percy Jackson series. Although I am familiar with this new mythology, the book did not grab me. Khufu comes closest to my favorite character from Percy Jackson – Grover. less
