review 1: Mark of the Mage, Scribes of Medeisia #1 by R.K. Ryals5 starsI really enjoyed this book! I felt the story was well developed, and written in a way that was easy to understand. This world was believable and it was easy to follow the characters through their experiences without getting lost. The emotions the characters felt were believable and brought me into the story.I look forward to reading the rest of the story and seeing where Stone, Kye, and the rest of the characters go from this point, and who doesn't like a story with dragons and magic!
review 2: An awesome start to a new fantasy series! I've read paranormal books by R. K. Ryals' but this is the first true epic fantasy I've seen and I have to say I love it. The book was well-written, really easy to get
... moreinto and was really creative. I loved the world the author has created - the warring nations, politics and intrigues, magic and fantastical creatures. I loved getting to see it through Stone's eyes as she goes from her comfortable life as a nobleman's illegitimate daughter to a life on the run with the rebels - all because of powers she had never used before and her affinity for books, ink and knowledge. It's a fantastic story and Stone is a great character. I liked getting to know her and admired the way she chose to stay with the rebels, not just so she could see vengeance on the king, but she that she could give her people some hope in a better life. Kye was also a fantastic character. I liked how he wasn't overprotective of Stone and let her use her skills to help. I also loved how he is willing to do anything to help his people, despite his heritage. Overall this was a fantastic story and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves young-adult fantasy books. I can't wait to get started on the next book in the series. less

A truly wonderful book. No sex, only minor swearing. I've found a new favorite author!

The cover is just damn ugly, but don't let it fool you.
