review 1: The book, Keeping the Secret by RM Johnson, focuses on teen homosexuality, gay pride and homophobia. The story is well developed, supportive, interesting, entertaining and flows well! The end will leave you on a cliff-hanger and eager for book two. The author has done a fabulous job with this excellent read. I highly recommended this book. It is five stars all the way!!! review 2: High school can be a time of discovery and growth. It can also help you find out who you are, but in some instances it can be the last place you want to be!Sebastian Akers, an openly gay teen accepting of his identity, and trying to live his life educating and providing information and organizing a club for gays a
... morend their allies on his campus. But everyone is not open to the ideas he presents. Sebastian has other problems; he’s a ward of the state trying desperately to find his family. He lives in a foster home with a woman who tolerates him just to get the check provided by his presence.Ebban Mitchell, All City and State basketball player, and his girlfriend Lauren have been dating for a while. But something is missing from their relationship, and Lauren is desperate to have it. But Ebban can’t seem to get it together. The consummation of their relationship causes him angst and he has to find out why the feeling isn’t mutual. What is the issue Ebban is having? Will his secret be the end of his relationship with Lauren?Matt, Troy, JC and Clark are all part of the starting lineup with Ebban. They enjoy the status that this affords them at school. Every guy wants to be them and every girl wants to be with them. But what happens when one afternoon they find themselves part of an unexpected situation that swears them to secrecy? Will they be able to keep the secret or will it prove to be the end of their friendship, or maybe something far worse?Lauren and Kimmie are best friends; they share secrets that they’d dare not tell anyone else. But the interesting part is that Lauren is dating Kimmie’s ex Ebban. Kimmie’s a bit cocky and is trying out for the cheerleading squad where Lauren is the captain, and she knows she’s a shoe in, heck her girl is the captain. But what happens when what’s expected turns to disappointment? Kimmie has a secret she’s been keeping, but will this betrayal cause the secret to come out? Can they still remain friends? Or will hatred and revenge make them bitter enemies. Will the secrets held become the end of friendships, relationships, or lives? What would you do?RM has written an intriguing story. I enjoyed the different stories that intertwined to one. The characters were well written and had me feeling sorry for a few of them. How good would you be at keeping the secret? Great job!
