review 1: SPOILERS. I like Strike. i mean. i know he's asocial and very boring but I think he is so interesting the way he is, u know? He feels very REAL to me. Well, I defenitely liked this more than the first book. This actually had a bit of action in it. And i defenitely didnt mind Strike and Robins relationship progressing. That was the main thing that had kept me reading in the Cuckoo's Calling. The murder is more gruesome in this book and it adds more appeal to the mystery. There was a bit of stalking and knife involved so it didnt become too boring between the times when Strike (just like the previous book) continued his interrogations of people. there were a LOT of dinner/lunch meetings and I guess being a private dick he had to dp it this way but I think Rowling couldve atl... moreeast made some of the interrigations unplanned. I liked the whole drive to Devon (i am a sucker for Robin and Strike. I dont ship them or anything. I just want them to be BFFs) and I was soooo glad when they finally had the conversation abt how Robin wanted to do more than her desk job. I keep hoping that when a new chapter starts, it'll be just the two of them in the office chatting. And everytime Robin goes home, Im like nooooooo stay. It was a relief when the Matthew thing was (kinda) sorted out too. I was super confused when Strike would go off to his other cases cuz I aas never paying attention to those stories. I wasnt like WOAH shocked when they revealed the killer. Its cuz Ive been preparing myself for it to be everyone who is not Strike, Robin, Ilsa, Nick etc and even Leonora strangely. I enjoyed this book and I defenitely want another one mostly because I(surprise, surprise) want to see how Robin and Stikes relationship develops.P.S. Ofcourse I loved that last scene! Im 18 okay. Sue me.
review 2: If you want plot summary, read someone else's review. Here's what I liked: Cormoran Strike's cynical personality. In the scene where he visits his friend and has to read a story to his godson, you can almost feel Strike wanting to punt the hellion off his knee. I also liked Robin finally putting her foot down to that awful fiancé of hers. Here's what I did not like: The book drags in places. Instead of the 455 pages it comes in at, the book would have been so much better at 375. What to cut? Pippa2011 would be a nice start! less
