review 1: All hell breaks loose in Riverdale! Archie and the gang have to survive the zombie outbreak and avoid the outbreak of zombies lead by the always hungry (now for flesh), JugHead! I have read few Archie comics and often suggest them to young J-readers, this is definitely a YA Material. The juxtaposition by itself makes this book absolutely scary, the fact the the writing and story is done incredibly well is what makes it truly terrifying. You can pick up this incredible graphic novel at the Colona Public Library!

The series is clearly a version of the Walking Dead with famous Archie characters. ... more However, Afterlife With Archie may end up being better than the Walking Dead in the long run because it masterfully uses the public's fascination with the characters to create a story that is extremely emotionally resonant. Even in the terrifying and disturbing world presented in the series, and it is VERY twisted and not for children, there is a lingering sense of humanity. There is a certain hopeful resilience from the crew that makes the series unique in modern zombie lore. Additionally, Francesco Francavilla provides a master class in using comic book art to convey tension, mood, and atmosphere. While the scripts are brilliant, the darkly beautiful images do more than any other aspect of the series to sell the concept that underlines the story. I would highly recommend it. less
