review 1: I'm enjoying this series as another version of my second favourite Stephen King story, but I'm not a huge fan of the artist's style. I think I'm just too used to the mini series interpretations of the characters. If Fran doesn't look like Molly Ringwald and Stu doesn't look like Gary Sinese, I'm just not as in to it for some reason. Still a great story though. And Randall Flagg is still terrifying (and one of my all time favourite villains. I love how he represents a greater evil in many forms throughout King's books and especially love what happens in the Dark Tower series).
review 2: This is a vast improvement over the previous volume, which mainly featured a lot of stage-setting and talking heads (not the fault of Aguirre-Sacasa and Perkins, they'd simpl
... morey run into a stretch of King's novel that didn't translate well to the visual medium). There's a palpable sense of building dread in this penultimate chapter as the last carefully-placed dominos are finally turned over, heading into the final act. Perkins' art is top-notch, creepy yet pastoral, and his characters' faces are subtly expressive. Aguirre-Sacasa's adaptation is clean, but most of the story credit must go to King, whose novel is maybe the all-time best Apocalypse tale. It's hard to imagine anyone could have crafted a more faithful comics rendition. less

This was one of the best volumes thus far. It moved the story along without seeming too rushed.
