review 1: I'm new to Bolano, so I wouldn't take my opinion really seriously. I was pretty lost in the sections covering Archimbolde. I really enjoyed listening to the narrator except when he spoke French; his French was pretty bad, but I guess it's amazing that his Spanish was excellent, so maybe I'm asking for too much.Since several of the characters in this book appear elsewhere and this was an unfinished work, I don't feel qualified to comment other than to say there are some beautiful passages here.
review 2: I should have read the information on the front fly leaf. I didn't. This is an unfinished work pulled from the pages left behing at Mr. Bolado's death. So just as I got to care about these people, and it took a while, the book stops. Last line "Something's goin... moreg to happen soon. I'll keep you posted." So I exposed my self to a new author. Will I search out some of his completed works? Probably not. less
