review 1: I found this collection of essays to be less compelling than Saviano's account of the Naples mafia, Gomorrah. Some essays cover similar ground to that book describing aspects of organised crime and corruption. These were some of the more succesful chapters.I was less keen on the essays discussing literature as these contained an excessive amount of references to philosophers and felt as if they were aimed at a different audience entirely to the other parts of the book. Those lacking a PhD in literature and/or philosophy are likely to feel somewhat alienated by these sections.Worth a look but not a classic by any means.
