review 1: Just amazing how detailed Saviano writes about the Cocaïnebusiness, given the fact he hasn't met any of the dealers or other characters since he lives in permanent security for writing his classic work, Gomorra, about the Napoli mob. The book starts with a chapter that could just fit into a modern Godfather-movie: a meeting of Colombian, Mexican, American and other gangster around a table headed by an Italian teaching them a lesson about organised crime. Saviano writes about the decline and fall of the Colombian cartels (eg the weakness of Escobars cartell), the rise of the Mexican cartels, the Russians and Nigerians, the Greeks, the role of Spain as major "traffic hub", the role of the big international banks laundering the drugmoney and about the Nandranghetta, the ma... morefia of the deep south of Italy, actually controlling the worldwide cocainetraffic. I bet everytime a politicians declares a "war on drugs" the cartels just pop-up the champagne !
review 2: Muy buen libro que es una recolección de como opera todo el narcotráfico de la cocaína alrededor del mundo, con bastantes detalles.Sin embargo, la parte que más o menos conozco, que se refiere a México, solo relata someramente la historia oficial, queda claro que no es un libro sobre el narco mexicano, pero me da la apariencia de que fue una investigación de hemeroteca (sin restarle mérito), y si esto ocurrió para México, seguramente ocurre lo mismo para otras partes del mundo.El tópico que me pareció algo decepcionante fue la entrevista con el supuesto Kaibil, la entrevista es una paráfrasis de lo que viene en la Wikipedia, lo que me hace dudar de que tal entrevista se haya hecho realmente.Lo que si es de manofactura 100% de Saviano son sus "ensayos" (o no sé como llamarlos) sobre la cocaína, unos que erizan la piel, otros que realmente aterran y otros que son una oda al narcótico. less
