The Boys Are Back in Town

review 1: This is the 1st book in the entertaining Series “Boys are Back in Town”. I just happened to have read books 2 & 3 before this one. I do have to say, the characters are more interesting and the plots are more developed as this Series progresses. The Series centers around 4 childhood friends that have all, for one reason or another, have made their way back to their small hometown in Virginia. The “Boys” are now all successful men, each with their own set of “baggage”. This story centers on Jack Cantrell,a former Marine and FBI agent. The book begins with a hot one night stand between Jack and a classy doctor, Michaela Roarke, aka Gwyneth/ Kayla. Then Jack finds himself coerced into being Kayla’s protector, unbeknownst to her. This arrangement brings these c... moreloser and one things leads to another. Kayla and Jack relationship certainly is passionate and very steamy, but something was just missing. These two as a "book couple" are rather nondescript. Maybe it is because of all the “boys”, Jack is the introverted one, which doesn’t lead to being a very memorable character. Believe me, the Leading Men in Book 2/3 are much more exciting. Though, I do have to say, the author did add interest to this book by adding a twist to the stalker case. Over-all Rating 3.75
review 2: Michaela is starting her new life, away from her father, on her own terms.This books starts out with Michaela having a one night stand with a smoking hot, sexy stranger that she meets in the bar. Little did she know that mister sex-on-sticks from her one night stand would unexpectedly show back up in her life in a way that she never could have imagined?Jackson Cantrell is trying to put his life back together after losing his FBI career and trying to fight to get his career back. He gets that chance in the form of an offer from Michaela’s dad, protect her, find the stalker and he would have his FBI career reinstated. Just what Jacksons wants or so he thinks.Kayla and Jackson have chemistry from the very first moment that they see each other in the bar. They both have stuff in their past that they were fighting/running away from and that had them denying what they wanted from each other or for themselves. less
