review 1: Without going too much in to detail for fear of spoilers, but this is definitely not the story I thought this was going to be. This turned in to such the drama, and I did not see certain plot points about to happen at all. I'm a relatively new Robin Hobb fan (just began her Rain Wilds chronicles in the past year) and if the quality of this novella is anything to base her other works on, then I am absolutely sold on reading everything else she has written.Easy read that was done in about 3 hours, but I really wished there was more to the story. Not that it was lacking, just that I wanted more of the world, more of the characters life.
review 2: This is the story of the Piebald Prince, which is mentioned in the Tawny Man series. It was a touching story (I cried ... moremore than once but then everything makes me cry these days). I didn't rate it as highly as I might a novel, but that's more to do with my preference for full length novels as opposed to novellas I think. It certainly whet my appetite for Robin Hobb and makes me even more impatient for Fool's Assassin! less
