review 1: I wasn't too sure about this as I started reading it -- and then I got caught up in the mystery and could hardly put it down. Lots of contemporary references to technology, so I'm not sure how this one will hold up over time. I liked the way Sloan used his characters' last names to provide another clue to their characters and/or roles in the plot, and overall I love that the book celebrates books, and the opportunity to dive into many levels in well-written book.
review 2: Set in a future San Francisco, but breathing with familiar characters and issues--unemployment, nerds who program and work at, or want to work at, Google--Sloane's novel is sassy, smart, and amusing. Design person that I am, I liked that one of the main characters in the book is an ancient
... moretypeface. I also loved Clay's slacker style, the many, breezy inclusions and references to pop culture, the mystical machinations of a secret society. Read this in a very short time because I was carried along by the story, style, and pacing. less

I loved the first 1/3, slogged through the next 1/3, and really liked the last 1/3. :-)
