review 1: Interesting murder mystery set in California. Liz, a Psychologist, and her boyfriend Nick, a Professor of the Occult, work together to solve this while also dealing with their relationship and taking it to the next level. I found the information about the religion, Santeria, quite interesting. The first story in this series focused on Voodoo as a religion and this one Santeria. I know next to nothing about either of those religions but appreciated the information the author shared in the story and how she wove it all together. I enjoyed this story and how the characters all interacted and worked together to solve the mystery.
review 2: Another fun, fast-paced, and spell binding read from the pen of Rochelle Staab! These are an interesting read with the city of ... moreLos Angeles as the backdrop for murder and magic. The main character Liz who is a skeptic about spells and anything pertaining to what she cannot see is thrown into a world of danger that she has to rely on all of her senses and some logic to solve cases, of course it doesn't hurt that she is involved with Nick Garfield who is an expert in old world religions, customs, beliefs and magic. I look forward to the next book in this series. less
