review 1: I enjoyed this novella enough that I am very interested to see what the rest of Ms. Brewer's SEALs are up to in her other books. If these men are half the man that "Itch" is, then by God, I may just be in love forever. While he was melting my heart, Jenny wasn't anything but great herself. Ms. Brewer's character's personalities had an opportunity to be masochistic and even overly whiny with need and yet, she didn't go there with them and that was so great.Plot wise, this is an incredibly sweet tale of a man who is out to rescue a woman, her son and his beloved pet from a life of uncertainty. While the story is only 62 pages long, not a drop of information is left out and we are able to enjoy these well developed characters in that short span of time. I would have loved to ... moreread more of these two, well three, four if you include the dog, and the journey across the states. This one is worth the dollar and the time spent reading it. Who doesn't love a good military man with manners and heart?
review 2: I usually don't mind short stories and novellas are often great for getting the final story for one of those secondary character couples from another book, but this one just seemed like there should be more. I know some nice guys, but none that would marry a complete stranger. Give her money, a temporary place to stay, a ride, etc. but not marry her...even if she did have a small child and nowhere else to go. The book has some good points and could have made for a longer, well rounded story (i.e. she's still not quite sure he is a safe bet around her child, slowly the attraction grows, the criminal boss stalks her, etc.). It just isn't realistic that two people would be willing to start a life together after 2 days of knowing each other. Then there is the ex-fiance...that didn't quite go how I would expect any woman to react hearing and seeing her fiance come home with another woman...So all in all, I didn't NOT like it, but think it could have been better. less
