review 1: This might be the best Barefoot book yet.I laughed and cried & my heart broke and rebuilt itself over and over during this story. Two people flawed by their experiences in life, meet, become friends and eventually heal and become so much more.Gussie the wedding planner wears wild wigs and makeup to hide her physical scars as well as emotional,Tom hides behind his camera and proudly wears a tattoo on his arm that says "always alone" as he tries to run from his scars.Gussie is all about the family you make and Tom is struggling with what to do with his 12 year old orphaned niece because he is "Always alone".They teach each other about acceptance, family and love. This story renews your faith in people and that we all have the ability to change and grow and learn not only from o... moreur pasts but our presents to evolve into a better future.Loved it.Have a box of tissues near by for this one.
review 2: Gussie and her two friends run the Barefoot Brides, a group destination wedding planners at Casa Blanca. She craves to have a family like the one she grew up in. When a client demands the names and portfolios of replacement photographers for her daughter's wedding Gussie can't help but give her the name of a photographer she had an encounter with at the supermin. T.J. Demille.Tom, or T.J. as he is called while he is working, is in Mimosa Key for one reason. He is now the guardian of his 12 year old niece. For a man that live his life on his terms and wants to be "always alone" he has no idea how to take care of the young grieving girl. This story is full of emotions. Both Tom and Gussie have insecurities the stem from things they had no control over. For Gussie it's hiding from everyone but her closest friends. For Tom it's to never fall in love and always be alone. This is a story you will not when to put down. It's yet another great book by Roxanne St. Claire. less
