review 1: I can't even remember how I found this book. I think Amazon knows to recommend ridiculous YA vampire novels to me at this point. I thought the premise was interesting--a group of vampire girls go into high schools undercover to find and kill the vamplayer (vampire/player) who will inevitably seduce the student body. The ending was a little predictable and I wasn't sure of all the mythology, but I liked that it was different.
review 2: I am not really the intended audience for a book such as Vamplayers and I started the story with low expectations. The story was simple, if not extremely predictable, but I couldn't say I really had many qualms with it until the ending. The final dramatic showdown was poorly conceived - why is there a tank/fountain/whatever of
... moreholy water large enough to drown a person in a private school's chapel? But I digress from the point I came to Goodreads to make: more than one casual reference to sexual assault and general creepiness as quirky behavior by the boys populating this story. A throwaway line about how Tristan sneaks into his classmates' dorms, drugs and photographs them in compromising positions to bribe their families? (Lily calls him a "pig" and then it is never mentioned again - even as Tristan is eventually granted immortality and special status within the new vampiric "Brotherhood"). A suggestion that Grover has access to a webcam feeding him video of the ladies' locker room? (It's funny because he is a fat and undesirable geek who will ultimately die a pointless death!) I'm all for frivolous fantasy but this story seriously left a bad taste in my mouth. Why even write the things mentioned above when they serve no purpose to the plot? less

This was a fun and cute tween vamp fic, on the predictable side but my daughter will love it.
