review 1: I picked up this book because one of the tag lines is "If you liked Gone, Girl, you'll love this." Well, count me in. Gone Girl frickin flipped me out. This did the same. I kept thinking I had it - I always have it - and then I didn't. Then . . . then . . . I'm reading along thinking this is so obvious - how could the author think that I wouldn't figure this out, for gawd's sake? Ahhhh . . . I'm not as smart as I think. Ms. Durrant did the world of intrigue and emotion proud. Super happy I picked this up as it will definitely mess with you and then mess with you some more. Couldn't put it down until it was done and then I still wanted it to go on. The last line in the book is awesome - I want to write it here, but out of context, I am not sure it will pack the punch. My ad... morevice? DO NOT skip to the end. You will be doing yourself a great disservice.
review 2: I went into this already thinking I'd figured out who the killer was -- and I was right. But that didn't mean I didn't enjoy it; I read it specifically because I suspected I knew who the killer was all along. And I love unreliable narrators. It was a fun read. I wish I could rate it higher, because I really did enjoy it, but I thought that killer was obvious all along and there weren't, in my opinion, enough twists to make it feel "worth" it to me in the end. less

I love mysteries but this one lost its way about half way through.

A bit predictable, well written though.
