review 1: I wasn't sure if I had to rate either two or three stars because I really enjoyed the beginning of the book but then got lost in the many different stories which weren't as exciting and dramatic as the first chapter. I got lost a few times in the many story lines the book encloses, it kind of fell back in to place near the end of the book. I did enjoy certain chapters a lot but the (to me) most interesting parts have no real ending. What ever happened to Leila or the love of her life? All with all, I enjoyed it enough to finish the book and wonder about some of the characters but that is where it ends for me.
review 2: How can you review this tormenting heartbreaking journey of those poor souls? was it just about the children and their scarred souls in terms o
... moref their unfortunate parent less childhood or about the parents and their paused unfinished lives? The horrific tales about the bloodshed and the criminal guards of the revolution twists your heart and leaves an eternal mark on your soul. this book made me hug my kids tighter and appreciate our togetherness more, made me contemplate about my freedom to roam my country's streets wearing my choice of clothing enjoying the sun on my face without a rampage of soulless frantic men pointing guns at me and throwing me away to rot in prison, made me hate more and more every oppressing regime all around the world destroying their people beyond fake motives of religion or any other extremist beliefs. The writing itself is excellent, ultimately personal clarifying the writer's own life experience yet of course it's not an easy read since you have to put it aside every while to overcome your swelling emotions. less

Struggente, toccante. Si sa così poco dell'Iran e della rivoluzione
