review 1: A widow who accidentally met her past true love when she accompany her niece to attend the ball.A tall and curvy plain jane who found her very first desire in a guy whom her aunt forbid.A brokenhearted man who found out that he still loves the woman hurt him several years ago.A nephew who found his love at the first sight in a girl but facing the same risk of heartbreaks like his uncle.So this story happened at the same time and location with the fisrt book, The Naked Duke. While reading David-Grace and Alex-Kate, we can meet the Naked Duke's characters again. I think that's the fun of this book. The idea of this story is great, 2 Romeos; uncle and nephew in love with 2 Juliet; aunt and her niece. Their family hate each other for so long and made the love tragedy happen a... moregain and again. Quite interesting right? It should be a great whole story. But the idea was developed badly. MacKenzie ruined it by focused on Alex and Kate. It made David and Grace's story boring. I think it's David and Grace who should be talked about more, while Alex-Kate long lost love should be just a reflection for the nephew and niece so they won't do the same mistake. I always love how MacKenzie begin her story with surprise. But she had to practice more and more to avoid the readers from boredom of reading the remaining pages. Too much useless (even mostly frustrating) hesitation of the heroes and heroines. Lack of chemistry, since I only found it in The Naked Duke and didn't feel it at all in this book and the Naked Viscount. Too simple conflict that had been complicated in way too depressing way. Lack of historical details that indicates improper research. Oh, so many things that makes you want to skip pages. This author has a long way to go before she can wrote multiple romance like Eloisa James or the best one, Leo Tolstoy. See how Eloisa James told us about Josie-Maine and Griselda-Darlington in the same book? Or Stephen-Beatrix and Esme-Sebastian. Those are much better than this one. The story of the two couples flows naturally without leave you confuse or get bored. And see how Tolstoy did the same too, in the best way that you can't choose which love story is better, Levin-Kitty or Anna Karenina-Vronsky.
review 2: Finally,kelar juga baca yg novel yg ini,,agak tertunda2 krn gw ngebaca ulanv cerita Sarah Hamilton dan Duke of Avord (gw lupa namanya sapa)Cerita yg menggambarkan 4 orang tokoh. Ada Alex dan Kate serta ada Grace dan David. Jadi Grace dan David bertemu di acara debut pertama Lizzie, adik dari Duke of Avord, yg lansung menemukan ketertarikan kimia-nya. Dari awal David memang bertekad mencari istri dikarenakan usianya yg sdh kepala 3 dan juga kriteria istri idamannya sangat2 dimiliki oleh Grace. Yang tidak dikerahui oleh dua sejoli ini, rupanya Alex dan Kate juga merasakan hal yang sama yaitu reaksi kimiawi alami antara mereka berdua diawal pertemuan mereka, tepatnya 23 tahun lalu. Hanya saja, karena ayah dari Grace yg juga kakak dari Kate membenci keluarga Dawson yang mana diyakini oleh ayah Grace menculik calon istrinya. Makanya hubungan Alex dan Kate lansung tdk disetujui, Kate dipaksa menikah dengan Lord Oxbury. Wow,makin komplit deh. Untuk selanjutnya baca sendiri yak.Ada 4 tokoh dan novel ini memuat keempat pandangan dari tiap tokoh, jadi siap2 teliti lagi ngebaca pandangan dari tokoh mana:-) dan harus gw akuin, ini judul ga berkaitan dengan isi cerita. Dibagian mana pada cerita ini Lord Dawson telanjang? Cmn diakhir doangkan? Pdhl wkt cerita Sarah di the naked duke itu memang ada keterkaitannya. Dan karna porsi dari cerita ini lebih ke Alex-Kate makanya David-Grace itu gregetnya kurang dapat, jadi ga maksimal.Sorry cmn kasih 2 bintangHappy reading guys less
