review 1: My computer crashed as I was about to click save, so this re-do is going to be shorter. It intertwines with the Skulls series, and this seems to be a sub-series. It would help to read that series b/c a lot happens off-pages at the end and several people and his ideas on modeling his MC is based on that series.I liked the ideas and the direction of the story line. The execution of the plot points was a little rough around the edges. Maybe there was a word count or arrangement with the publisher, but the lack of character development was obvious. As soon as Devil sees Lexie he's claiming her. He also tells her he doesn't do love and then is upset the next day that she's under his skin. He fights this and at one points humiliates her in front of everyone by calling her a strip... moreper and then she proves him... right or wrong not sure because her actions were a bit at odds with her character. The whole time he did it he knew it was wrong and he knew why she was a stripper in the first place. This book needs a copy editor (beyond a proofer). Sentence structure was odd and awkward that it distracted me. Examples: "it seems so hard to be sat here drinking" - "how does she get to steal $10K?" - " you're no who I thought you was." I thought it was a dialect MC thing, but most were their thoughts and not part of dialogue. The age gap 21 to 45. Normally doesn't bother me, but even he said he could be her dad (ugh, don't bring it up). Then he "adopts" a 17 year old, but Lexie is only a few years older. I tried not to think about it but it skeeved me out.Lexie's character and development. She stared as strong and willing to do anything for her nephew (who she thought of as her own). I went back and realized Lexie has little dialogue. Even when she meets Devil and he's ordering her around (submissive?), she has very little to say or think on her own. It felt conflicting and she eventually came across as a doormat.I thought a lot about the "morals" of this story. Drug runners and strip clubs vs. pimps and underage prostitution. I'm sure their drugs never went to anyone underage. My brain hurt trying to wrap around this.I'm not sure if I'll continue this series. I will be checking out the Skulls series and maybe as I learn more about Devil I will come back with a better sense of the character.
review 2: When Kayla shows up at her sisters Lexie's apartment with a young baby in tow, she plans to walk away from her son and whatever aftermath her actions have caused. Lexie is not ready to be a mother, she certainly doesn't have money to support a baby. When every potential job turns into a failure, Lexie finds herself a job as a stripper. The only positive is that she can take care of her sisters baby.Life on the road has finally taking it's toll on Devil He knows his MC is wanting to settle for a bit. Focused on finding the woman who kidnapped his son and stole money, the time is right. Enjoying a night at the strip club they own he catches a glimpse of a woman he wants. Uncovering that she is the sister who is taking care of his son is just a bonus. Devil plans to make Lexie his.I was torn on this one, overall really liked the concept but Devil is a pretty filthy minded. Lexie just agrees in a sense and I found that I would have liked a bit more spunk. Might reread later to see if different perspective. less

Think it needed a bit more. I think it was rushed at the end.
