review 1: Date: October 12th, 2014Author: Samantha Berger; Illustrated by Bruce Whatley Title: Martha Doesn't Say Sorry!Plot: Martha doesn't say sorry to anyone - her mom, dad and even her baby brother! Will Martha learn how to say sorry to her family, or will she continue to be the girl who isn't sorry about anything?Setting: Martha's HouseCharacters: Martha, Martha's parents, Martha's brotherPoint-of-View: Third-PersonTheme: Saying sorry is the perfect recipe for forgivenessStyle: Short SentencesCopyright: 2009Notes: The book was alright. I personally didn't like how it ended. In the end, Martha realized that if you simply say "sorry", that everything she does is okay. In other words, it's okay to be a complete brat, just as long as you say "sorry", all is ... morewell!
review 2: I was quite surprised at how thoroughly my niece and nephew were absorbed by this book. The text is very simple, the story is very black and white, but the children were just swept up in it! The concept in the book is very easy for young kids to understand (they probably live versions of this story themselves on a daily basis), and older young kids will get a kick out of watching Martha learn what they already know. Cute story with plenty of opportunities to discuss consequences associated with positivie and negative behavior. less
