review 1: This is a really solid suspense story with a terrific setting, a tiny village in the Yorkshire region of northern England. A man inherits a cottage from his grandparents, so he moves his wife and baby up from London. Less than a week after they arrive, the young husband mysteriously vanishes. One year later, the wife, Grace, returns to the cottage, looking for answers behind his disappearance. The villagers are not very helpful, and there seem to be supernatural things going on in the cottage, as well. The more Grace investigates, the more questions she finds. I love mysteries set in small, isolated places, and this one is particularly good at capturing the feel of a close-knit village. Sara Foster is an Australian author of 3 books (so far), and this is the first one to a... moreppear in America. Now I'm waiting for the others. Highly recommended.
review 2: "Are you alright Grace?" is the question repeated throughout this far too many times. Yes, Grace is alright. If this book were a car, I'd say it's stalled. There is a tangled web that reveals itself but not till the last two chapters if you can make it that far. The characters are blah, the dialogue repetitive, and uninteresting. My recommendation on this one, is don't bother. I'm sorry I did, truly a waste of my time. less
