review 1: If you thought that "Poison" was slow, well, do I have a book for you! This book just dragged on and on and on. With Poison, I was hesitant to say that Francesca was a Mary Sue. I'm still hesitant to say it but her Sue-ish qualities are shining through and nearly blinding me. I expected something more from this book and I was really disappointed. Unfortunately for me, I got the next book in the series and I'm too far in to back out now. I also never realized how much sex there is until someone pointed it out. I guess it's such a common occurrence that I don't even notice it.
review 2: The second book in the Poisoner Mystery series has the head of the Borgia family, Rodrigo, established as pope for about 1 year. Francesca continues her role as poisoner and prote... morector of the Borgias. Her relationship with Cesare continues. When a plot threatens the family, Francesca must try to discover who is behind the plan. Is it an old enemy of the family, or does poison lie within their own walls? She must also deal with her own need for revenge for her father's death. While the story sometimes stretches belief, it is a fun, suspenseful journey into the time period with a good amount of historical material surrounding the action. less
