review 1: I found Sarah Crossan's latest novel heartwarming and touching, Apple and Rain is a beautiful coming of age story that left me in a puddle of tears. I was however disappointed at the predictbility of this novel. Every twist and turn was anticipated and was somewhat saddened when I turned the final page without discovering a shock or complete twist in the plot. Despite this I have still given Apple and Rain a 4 out of 5 because of the beautiful way in which this book is written.
review 2: After loving both The Weight of Water and Breathe, I was really keen to read this book too and it didn't disappoint. A really moving coming of age story as Apple tries to find a way to fit with her peers, her Nana who has raised her, her mother who reappears in Apple's life a
... morefter years of silence and Rain (who has some odd behaviours). I did find Apple's relationship with Del a bit jarring, but other than that this novel is well written. Recommended, especially for years 9 to 11 girls. less
