review 1: I really liked this series in the beginning, but lately it's getting a little too "thriller". The situations Jacobia Tiptree and Ellie White end up in are no longer "scrapes". They are pushing unbelieveable and their rescues are becoming unrealistic. They are pushing the boundaries of cozy mysteries. I love the characters and I love the old house.....and I've read them all so I'm continuing on.....but am really not enjoying this series as much as I did in the beginning.
review 2: Haunting plays a big part in this book. The story is very interesting, especially the scenes where Dewey Hooper is trying to figure out how his ex-wife has come back from the dead just to make his life miserable again. Victor's ghost is seen by Jake, Wade, Same, and Bella as the da
... morete of his death approaches. This time, however, Victor has a benevolent motive as he/his ghost gets their attention at critical moments. Bob Arnold continues to think about the fact that he actually killed someone. Most likely, he will be haunted by that for awhile. The only part that is really not credible is the elaborate trap that Jake & Ellie set for Dewey. Dewey is not dumb, but ultimately the trap works because Ellie taunts him successfully to act before thinking. less

Probably the best in the series. The author manages to keep a three ring circus going flawlessly.

I enjoyed this adventure with Ellie and Jake, but not especially the ghost of a dead husband.

Graves books keep getting more and more improbable.
