review 1: Enjoyed the story of discovery of a diary and the diary's story paralleling the modern day story but some characters were introduced never to be seen again and there was a possible goof-up in the relationships between the diary and "now" when a character says "why didn't she come back for me" when she means "why didn't she come back for my mom". The inconsistency bothered me as did the "neatness" of all the diary characters having different names in the present. Still, the story kept my interest.
review 2: Reading the first few chapters really got me excited for this story. Made me feel a little home sick in real life, but then the drama hits. Its like the romantic comedy that's been told over and over again. Husband cheats, she needs to clear her head so she
... more goes to her favorite getaway to her aunt's beach house. I enjoyed the aunt Bee character in her head but not in the actual story. I couldn't understand why she couldn't tell her family history over tea or something. Instead she sends her niece on a wild goose chase of course with the help of the dearest friends. I didn't believe in the love story. I don't feel like she cared about her marriage at all considering the instant love triangles that happened the moment she stepped off the boat. Also if you wrote a story that people all over loved that also became a movie why wouldn't you take two tiny minutes to entertain some fans. What a stuck up B word she is. Very ungrateful woman in my opinion. There was a back story to this story and that's what kept me going to the end. I was more intrigued by the journal than the lives these characters were living. less
