review 1: Oh my goodness. This was my first book by Sarah Jio and I absolutely loved this book. it was amazing! I love the whole present day to the past, with her telling her granddaughter her story. The writing was awesome and made you feel very relatable to the main character and what she was feeling. I think the love story was written just perfect. Nothing happened too fast and nothing happened that seemed unbelievable. It was just perfect. And then how the book came, kind of, full circle and some questions were answered in the end. This book was just amazing. This book definitely makes your heart feel a tug. I will definitely be reading more of her books.
review 2: Three and one half stars. One of my favorite time periods: the 40's WWII era about two best friends who
... more take their nursing skills to the South Pacific. Similarities to Michener's book ends there. Anne and Kitty spend ten months in Bora Bora. There do some nursing but mostly the girls get involved with men on the base. There's pregnancies, births and murder. There is also a mystery with a painting. The characters are somewhat interesting, although Anne is beyond naive and at times I wanted to shake her for being so dense. The loose ends tie up too neatly at the end, but if you like books that have happy endings, you will enjoy this tale of the South Pacific. less

I think it is better than the Violets of March.
