review 1: History, mystery, crime, and romance! This is the fourth Sarah Jio book I read in a row, and as the others, it earned a 4 or 5-star rating. This book follows the pattern that Sarah Jio has used in other books, where chapters alternate between the present day and an earlier time period in history. In this book, that meant being on an English country estate just prior to WWII, where Flora, an amateur botanist, is contracted by an international ring of flower thieves to locate a rare type of Camellia, AND, fifty years later, meeting Addison, an American garden designer, who has taken up residence with her husband, at that very same English country estate. Finding an old gardener's notebook from the pre-WWII period sets up a mystery that beckons to be solved. I really enj... moreoyed this read, and flew through it in two days. Sarah Jio's writing is engrossing and compelling...an author I look forward to reading again.

Spanning decades, a series of unsolved missing women from 1930-40 comes to life in present-time as a female botanist takes up residence in a manor with an extensive, age-old Camellia orchard.
