More Than Friends
review 1: Five "Loved It!" stars!!! This was my first book by Sarah Mayberry, and I can't wait to read more! If you love best - friends- to -lovers books, especially when they're done well, Her Best Friend won't disappoint. The process of Quinn falling in love as well as reconnecting with himself played so well alongside Amy's secret love and her strong self-awareness.It didn't feel like a Mills & Boon, and I wished it was longer, taking the time to explore explored the dynamics between Lisa, Amy and Quinn a little more. I loved the glimpses into their childhood and would have loved the author to explore consequences a little more. I loved Mrs P and her impeccable timing (hilarious) and the scene in which Amy is administering first aid also had me chuckling.A great, fun, easy read a... morebout two best friends finding each other.
review 2: This one started out strong, faltered in the middle, rebounded a little, but eventually fell flat in the end. Amy's been in love with her best friend, Quinn for sixteen years, but has never told him because she didn't want their friendship to "get weird." And while Quinn married the third party in their friendship circle, he's always lusted after Amy. Now, he's back in town, on the verge of a divorce, and the two spend about two hundred pages dancing around each other. I had a lot of problems with the characterization in this story: Amy's all about going after what she wants--except where it comes to Quinn. Several scenes stretched the bounds of credibility and the epilogue felt tacked on, with no real follow-up. less
